Community Insurance Center

Community Insurance Center is part of the Inner-City Group, a collection of privately held companies with shared ownership and mission. Founded in 1962 and acquired by Matthew Cooper in 2015, the company serves communities across Chicago and the region.

We do not report to a board of directors or private equity managers but instead focus on serving our clients and community. As a social entrepreneurial business, we prioritize sustainability and long-term viability over profit alone in all our decisions and services.

 

Our History

Ralph Metcalfe

Mr. Metcalfe started Community Insurance Center in 1962.  He believed that high-quality insurance and risk management services are critical to the economic development and stability of a community.  Mr. Metcalfe chose the name Community Center Insurance Agency and later changed it to Community Insurance Center to highlight that central role our services play in the lives and businesses in the community.
